Alma, WI to Woodbury, MN
Another state to check off the list! We were hoping to pick up the Wisconsin border sign on our way out of the state, but once again they didn't have it. Even though it is a lovely state, they must not be very welcoming.
Minnesota is actually my birth state, even though I have no memory of having lived here. The great thing is that it still has family from my mom's side. So, today we pushed through quite a few hills and a long day to make it to my Uncle Gary's house in Woodbury (just outside St. Paul). This was a nice stop along the journey that allowed for us to shower, do some laundry, and eat a huge meal. Thanks Gary & Joyce!
The big news in these parts is the bridge colapsing yesterday. We slowly got news of it from those along the road. With limited access to the internet and not buying the paper, news travels very slow to us. The whole thing is tragic and having been an engineer, there are a few engineers who are pretty nervous right now. How would you like to be the person that forgot to carry the 1 and as a result a bridge falls killing probably over 30 people.
Tomorrow we head NW and it should be an shorter day than what we've been doing. We are planning on taking two days to get to Sauk Rapids where my cousin and her family live. No 100 mile day yet Adam, but we have talked about it before and it will probably happen. Maybe in North Dakota.
